The counselling process for NEET-UG 2024 has been postponed indefinitely following the Supreme Court’s rejection of a plea to delay the start of counselling scheduled for July 6th.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh criticized the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government over the NEET-UG controversy, claiming that the future of lakhs of youth is at risk under their administration.
The NEET-UG, conducted on May 5 by the NTA, is under scrutiny in the Supreme Court due to alleged irregularities. The exam was intended for admissions in MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other related courses.
Previously, the NTA conducted a re-examination for 1,563 students who were awarded grace marks in the previous NEET-UG exam due to ‘loss of time.’ However, the Supreme Court canceled these grace marks after petitions were filed against them. Out of these students, only 813 appeared for the re-examination, while the rest chose to retain their original NEET-UG scores, excluding the grace marks.
