India’s HMPV Virus Cases Real-time updates: At Hiranandani Hospital in Powai, Mumbai, a six-month-old infant tested positive for HMPV, bringing the total number of cases of the respiratory disease to 11. Two instances were recorded in Bengaluru, one in Gujarat, two in Chennai, three in Kolkata, and now three in Maharashtra out of the total cases documented thus far.

HMPV is an ancient virus, according to Dr. Randeep Guleria, a former director of AIIMS. It has been present for a while. Viruses often produce moderate sickness, but in the elderly, young children, newborns, and those with comorbidities, they can induce pneumonia, which can cause respiratory problems and hospitalization. The virus typically resolves on its own; you only need to treat its symptoms. “Take fever medication, stay hydrated, and eat healthily,” he continued, advising people to stay away from busy areas to prevent the infection from spreading.

“Health experts have clarified that #HMPV is not a new virus. There is no reason to worry. We are closely monitoring the situation.” stated Union Health Minister JP Nadda. Brajesh Pathak, the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, spoke about worries about the HMPV virus. The people was reassured by Pathak that the administration is proceeding with utmost caution. In reaction to HMPV incidents recorded in various regions of the nation, the Patna administration has urged citizens to maintain composure and abide by the directives given by the Central and Bihar governments.
